The continuous transformation of nature and society in the world, as well as progress in scientific research and technology, geography facing the challenge of providing better training young people of basic secondary education, for:
1. Develop knowledge linked to the geographical space,
2. Acquiring skills for management and interpretation of maps and miscellaneous information and
3. Strengthen attitudes and values \u200b\u200bto the environmental, social and cultural rights of different groups of people.


A Geographic Information System (GIS in its English acronym) is an organized integration of hardware, software and geographic data designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze and display all forms of geographically referenced information with to solve complex planning and management.


In a more generic sense, GIS are tools that allow users to create interactive queries, analyze spatial information, edit data, maps and present the results of these operations.


IRIS (Integrated Geospatial Referenced Information System) is a commercial GIS developed by the INEGI.
