GeoCity Task Performance


Summary

The project being developed at the Centro Escolar Cedros school from 2009 to 2010 in the subject of Geography of Mexico and the world is called: "The digital maps in the modern age" (digital and GeoCity maps).

This project is based, to use the inverted design as a methodological strategy to reach a lasting understanding (great idea), through which students can develop educational skills using the Information Technology and Communication, which is transferred to different areas of knowledge.

For students, the inverted design strategy results in a performance task.

Performance Task draws students:
a) The goals to be achieved at the end of the project,
b) The role to be taken to solve a real problem,
c) Hearing where it is to play the role of student,
d) The situation that is the approach to a problem that needs to be resolved,
e) The Products shall be giving the student to resolve the situation and
f) Success Criteria which are the tools with which to be evaluated final delivery.

In each quarter of the subject of Geography of Mexico and the world is assigned a different task performance, however, that projection has been taken to an international forum (International Society of Technology in Education) has been that is from the third section of the agenda.

digital maps in the contemporary era (GeoCity and digital maps), is a performance task that involves the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) developed by the INEGI (National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Informatics), GIS is a software program called IRIS (Information Referenced geospatially Integrated System).

GeoCity and digital maps is a school project comprises 5 stages:
1. Defining the problem.
2. Contingency and vulnerability of the population.
3. Diagnosing the problem using IRIS.
4. Proposals to solve the problem.
5. Report on proposals that provide solutions to the problem.

GeoCity and digital maps promotes on the one hand higher thinking skills XXI century and secondly, the actual geographical skills. This project plans to work collaboratively, not only among students - teacher, but with government officials, researchers and other institutions to share information to find solutions to common problems.

prepare students in these digital tools will strengthen their skills for life. To do this, teachers also need to implement and assimilate the skills needed to encourage students in the achievement of ever higher and more human.



Introduction

The continuous transformation of nature and society in the world, as well as progress in scientific research and technology, geography facing the challenge of providing better training to young people of basic secondary education, for:
1.Regional knowledge related to geographic space,
2.Adquirir management skills and interpretation of maps and information
3.Fortalecer diverse attitudes and values \u200b\u200bto the environmental, social and cultural rights of different groups of people.
